Mount Yulong – Full Time Stock Hand Wanted

Mount Yulong is currently looking for a Stock Hand to join our team at Telangatuk East, in west of Victoria.  Mount Yulong is a well established Poll Merino Stud, and also runs a commercial sheep enterprise.  We are passionate supporters of the Merino Industry, and pride ourselves on the quality of what we produce.

We require an excellent team player with a can-do attitude who loves agriculture, in particular working with sheep.  You will be responsible for carrying out daily farm tasks to a high standard, in a safe and efficient manner.

The role is diverse, and previous farm experience is essential so that you are capable of carrying our basic farm duties. You must have a passion for learning and developing your skills in Agriculture.

Duties will include but not exclusive to:

Stock handling including assisting with:
o Lamb marking
o Crutching/shearing
o Drenching and vaccination
o Pregnancy scanning
o Feeding stock hay and grain
• Mustering stock
o Using dogs
o Motor bikes or farm vehicles
Stud Stock work
o Feeding stud stock in shed- ensuring clean water
o Cleaning shed for stock
o Help with joining and classing programs
o Help with Show preparation of animals including tracking and trimming
o Help with annual On Property Sale
o Attend shows and help with handling, feeding
Pasture improvements
o May be required to operate tractor for seeding etc
o Help with cleaning of paddocks for cropping- chainsaw work, pushing up piles
o Hay carting as required
o Pulling down of old fences and construction of new fence lines
o Reports fencing issues to the Operations manager
o Use chainsaw to remove limbs from fence lines to stock proof property.
Maintenance of equipment and property
o Cleaning of vehicles, sheds and yards as instructed.
o Vehicle maintenance – reports any issues immediately to Operations Manager
o Takes due care with machinery operation and uses safety equipment as provided.

Collection of Firewood
o Using chainsaw, wood splitter to clear fire wood
o Cart fire wood to homesteads.

Salary is negotiable depending on experience. 40 hour week, but the ability to be flexible during busy times is essential.  There will be a three month probationary period. Personal development opportunities will be made available to you, for skill enhancement.

There is currently a basic farm cottage available for accommodation on the property.  It has 3 bedrooms, kitchen meals area, lounge with wood heater, bathroom and laundry with W/C. House is 16kms from Balmoral and 65kms from Horsham.
